Interview with Viсtor Arestov | In Thailand, the work on modernization of boats with "Slavyanka" motors is underway

Victor Arestov, the head of ASPP Weihai and participant in the project "Duyunov's motors" shares the latest news about his activities in an interview to Alexander Sudarev.

Victor shed light on the following issues:

- whether the company is a competitor of "Sovelmash",
- how the combined winding technology "Slavyanka" has advanced in the market,
- how ASPP Weihai cooperates with various organizations,
- how the project aimed at modernization of traditional Thai boats that we have already written about several times is developing.

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market runs about 600 diesel boats for tourists. There are approximately 10,000 boats in Thailand on the whole. The waste from boat diesel fuel pollutes water bodies, the noise of motors scares away fish and disturbs the locals. The boat traffic sometimes becomes so intense that it is very difficult to get out of the congestion. Due to the constant rumbling, smoke and lack of sound insulation, people leave their homes.

The accumulation of tourists, and consequently, the deterioration of the environmental situation due to the use of boats have led to people being unable to engage in fishing and trade. Banks have been closed due to the outflow of people. The Thai Ecology Committee has been established to tackle the acute problem. In 2019, the Prime Minister of Thailand Prayut Chan-o-cha visited Damnoen Saduak Floating Market and got acquainted with the boat modernization project. Later, the first boat was created with Solar Power Glory solar panels, as well as controllers and motors manufactured by ASPP Weihai. This boat moves without much noise, does not pollute the water and air, and can be charged using solar power.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this project did not develop until almost the end of 2020. And only after the visit of Thailand's Minister of Tourism and Sports to this region in November 2020, the project was given further development.

Now the second boat with a solar battery on the roof with a capacity of 1.1 kW/h is being manufactured. This will enable the battery to be charged up to 5.5 kW/h per day and the boat will be able to travel almost double the distance per day.

The modernization of boats is very relevant and important for this region. With them, the rivers will become much cleaner, and the life of the local population will be more comfortable.

The project is supported by the Government of Thailand, the Thai Environmental Movement and the University of Bangkok.

It is obvious that the more acute the environmental problems become, the more popular the introduction of motors with the combined winding "Slavyanka" gets in various domains of human activity. Even now we can talk about mass production of such boats.
