Capacities of the "Sovelmash" winding shop at the beginning of 2021

Continuing the series of video reports about the capacities of "Sovelmash", we offer you a tour of the winding shop conducted for you by the company's design engineer Sergey Sukhov.

At the moment, the following equipment is presented in the winding shop of "Sovelmash":

- Workstation for performing calculations and working with reference information;
- Storage systems for various materials and tools;
- Workstation where boxes and slot insulation covers are installed in the stators of small-size electric motors, the coils are put into the stators, etc.;
- Racks with copper wire coils of various diameters and samples of electric motors and stators; there is also a board on one of the racks where employees can put down their calculations and other important information;
- The winding table is equipped with a device for contact welding in a protective environment using nitrogen. Nitrogen is used to prevent the welded surfaces from oxidization. There is also an exhaust hood with a cleaning filter used to remove toxic, caustic gases released during welding. The winding table is used for winding large-size motors;
- Gas supply unit, where nitrogen and compressed air are fed, for the winding table and other equipment;
- Workstation with the milliohmmeter, megohmmeter and scales. The milliohmmeter is used to measure the resistance of a particular coil. The megohmmeter is needed to detect insulation breakdowns in the wound stator. The scales are used to weigh the coils to determine how much copper is used in the motor with a standard winding and with the "Slavyanka" combined winding;
- A programmable high-speed machine for winding coils with an upgraded wire feed system developed by the "Sovelmash" employees, which eliminates wire overlaps and jamming.
