Final preparations for the launch of the Angle grinder and the start of production of airship envelopes

In April, Sovelmash focused on mass-production technologies and obtained new patents. AERONOVA, meanwhile, launched envelope production and took part in a scientific conference.

DUYUNOV MOTORS

• Angle grinder. Final adjustments were made, and the angle grinder underwent strength tests at the Sovelmash laboratory. Sales are expected to start at the end of May.
• Drone "Motylek". Serial-production technologies for the frame size 305 aircraft engine were refined, cutting the casting time for the stator stack and sleeve from 24 hours to 2 minutes and reducing aluminum consumption nine to tenfold. The first outdoor tests of Motylek this year were conducted. 
• Housed motors. The stator was press-fitted into a standard housing for the first time using a mass-production process. The motor’s power is over 3 kW, with very broad application areas.
• New patents. Sovelmash obtained two new patents for induction motor designs. One of them makes it possible to reduce the motor housing length from 90 mm to 80 mm.

NEW GENERATION AIRSHIPS

• Production of airship envelopes. The first components for the receiver have been manufactured, and preparations were underway to create a full-scale envelope for NOVA-2 about 40 meters long.
• NOVA-2. The mold for the composite leaf spring has been completed. The layup of composite materials was performed to ensure the required stiffness and strength of the spring.
• NOVA-01. Autopilot-mode flights continued — the team is accumulating data to improve control accuracy. 
• AEROLYOT-01. Ready to resume flight tests: fully assembled; engines, propellers, electronic systems, and more have been checked. 
• Scientific readings. AERONOVA delivered reports at the XXIII N. E. Zhukovsky Memorial Aviation Readings. The results achieved, engineering solutions, and development prospects for new-generation airships were presented.
