AeronovaNews| Development and manufacture of the test bench

On January 13, a meeting was held at which the AERONOVA team handed over to production a key task: the development and manufacture of a test rig.

The rig is intended to test the load-bearing elements of an airship envelope, such as grommets, lugs, pockets, and other assemblies.

During the meeting, AERONOVA designers and engineers:

• reviewed an example of an old test rig on the demonstration screen;
• analyzed its strengths and weaknesses;
• determined which solutions should be retained and which should be improved, taking into account new materials and loads.

Special attention was given to:

• test automation;
• the rig’s expanded functionality, which will make it possible to conduct several types of tests within a single design.

Kamil Salikhov has been appointed responsible for implementing the rig in the metal structures area.

From the engineering unit, recommendations for future stages—taking into account certification requirements—were provided by engineers Vadim Zubkevich, Boris Ivchenko, and Vladimir Egorushkov.

Since the equipment under development is classified as aviation equipment, safety, reliability, and an individualized approach to each structural element remain the priority—especially for new and experimental solutions.

After the envelope elements are manufactured and welded on production machines, destructive testing on the new fabric is planned:
• grommet pull-out,
• lug pull-out,
• pocket pull-out.

The purpose of the tests is to effectively confirm compliance with the calculated loads.

The team is awaiting the assembly of the test rig.
In parallel, work is underway to organize the production of airship envelopes.
