Victor Arestov: "We are engaged in more than just making money here and now".

In the first week of December, "Sovelmash" was visited by a delegation of partners from China:

• Victor Arestov, General Director of ASPP Weihai Technology
• Daniel Chan, Vice President of Weihai Allwin Electrical & Mechanical Tech. Co., with which an agreement has been signed to produce angle grinders.

Victor Arestov spoke about the purposes and details of the visit in the off-schedule broadcast of the "Expert Time" program on December 6.

The Chinese company's representative came to Russia to see with his own eyes the "Sovelmash" design and engineering technology department under construction and its operating facilities, as well as to hold a series of trilateral business meetings.

Weihai Allwin Electrical & Mechanical is one of China's largest power tool factories, working with many well-known brands, including Makita, JET, Metabo, SKIL, Ryobi and others. The company sells its products around the world, including the post-Soviet territory.

An important goal of Daniel Chan's visit was to establish contacts between the customers of his enterprise and "Sovelmash". Over the week of the guests' stay in Moscow, at least seven meetings with Russian companies took place.

Victor Arestov explained the essence of cooperation as follows: "There is a trilateral involvement here. There is a developer - the "Sovelmash" D&E - that will develop electric drives. There is a Chinese enterprise that makes motors. There is an end customer, a factory that uses electric drives. Each party is interested in cooperation and depends on the other. The Chinese party ... is betting on the market development."

At one of the business meetings, a plant in Belarus expressed interest in the potential of combined winding motors, especially their reliability and durability, since frequent breakdowns of conventional motors are a major headache for the company. The parties agreed that the representatives of the Belarusian plant would visit "Sovelmash" for a closer acquaintance with the company.

And this is just one example of the prospects that cooperation with the Chinese company opens up for "Sovelmash".

Victor Arestov succeeded in launching the "Slavyanka" technology in the Chinese market in 2021; he now sees his main task as finding major customers for the "Sovelmash" D&E. He explains his personal interest in the company's success this way: "This is a long-term business, not the production of a few motor models. It's more interesting, more ambitious, more promising. I want to set up a business for the future, for the next generation. We are engaged in more than just making money here and now."

In addition, in his interview Victor Arestov describes how his company's work is organized, how he managed to enter the Chinese market, and what developments are now being implemented in Asia and other markets. He answered the most interesting questions from the audience.
