Highlights from the first week of Solar Race 2023

Alright, friends. The Solar Race 2023 across Kazakhstan started on June 11, featuring the Bajaj Maxima tuk-tuk with a "Slavyanka" DA-90 combined winding motor made by ASPP Weihai.

Starting from 17 June, the participants have been running the first competitive stage of the Aktobe-Baikonur route, 834 km long. To recap, there are two competitive stages in the solar vehicle race. The second stage starts on June 24 in Shymkent. Our guys need your support now in particular!

We told you more about the start of the race here.

In total, more than 1,000 km out of 2,700 have now been covered. And those were some tough kilometres! In the harsh conditions of the Kazakh desert, with rigorous rules of participation, with mistakes and sometimes with losses. For example, as it turned out on day 4, 2 batteries is a mistake (extra weight and a time-consuming charge). Also two competitors withdrew from the race - one had suspension problems and the other had a burned-out hub motor. And our tuk-tuk was involved in a minor road accident.

But the team keeps on going, no matter what! The pilot of the Bajaj Maxima tuk-tuk with a "Slavyanka" powered motor, Vladimir Popov, calculates the charge time competently and selects the optimum speed mode. By the way, Vladimir is an investor in the project "Duyunov's motors". For him, it is a real challenge.

Watch our video review to find out how events have progressed from the start to the first competitive stage.

Many discoveries are being made along the way, including discoveries about the national cuisine - the local dishes and drinks give the guys energy and lift their spirits. And as the participants themselves say, now all they talk about is the Sun. After all, it is the main source of charging, according to the rules of the competition. The participants are forbidden to charge from anything they do not transport with them. You could say our team's victory depends on the sun!
