"SovElMash" laboratory: the tasks and peculiarities of work

A modern innovative enterprise is unthinkable without its own laboratory. How is the "SovElMash" laboratory equipped and what tasks does it perform?

Any organization that develops innovative products and is at the forefront in its line of activity needs to test ideas and hypotheses. Therefore, the main task of the laboratory is to test motors. The tests are necessary to understand and correct the quality of our developments, to demonstrate to the customer the advantages of the "Slavyanka" technology and to confirm the declared performance of the combined winding motors.

"SovElMash" conducts various types of tests.

• Research tests are aimed at studying the performance of motors and their operation processes.
• Finishing tests are needed to improve the current performance features of a model.
• Comparative tests enable comparing the performance of two motors: an induction motor with factory-made winding and a motor rewound using the "Slavyanka" technology.

Another important area of work of the laboratory staff is the maintenance of technical documentation that must comply with the GOST standards. If the state standards are changed, the documents must be revised. According to Alexander Semyonov, the existing documentation almost fully meets the requirements of the latest GOST 2019 standard.

The laboratory employees are working on enhancing the testing methods and automating the processes as part of another line of activity - improving the testing methods.

The "SovElMash" laboratory has modern equipment that enables high accuracy of the tests carried out. The equipment includes:

• large loading unit with the power of up to 70 kW (600 N⋅m),
• medium loading unit with the power of up to 10 kW (200 N⋅m),
• small loading unit with the power of up to 3 kW (20 N⋅m).

Besides, the laboratory has complex metrological equipment and sensors that measure motor performance during testing. The systems use software developed by the specialists of "SovElMash". It allows to quickly measure motor performance during the tests.

The measuring instruments undergo annual verification, and the testing equipment is certified. Only in this case will the test results be officially recognized.

The verification is carried out by a specially accredited organization.

The initial certification of the "SovElMash" laboratory was carried out in August 2019 by third-party specialists and required thorough preparation. This year, the company's employees have already successfully carried out the due scheduled certification of the test bench and thus confirmed that the equipment will be operational throughout the year.

The tangible and intangible resources of the "SovElMash" laboratory will also be used by the design and engineering technology department. The tasks will remain the same, but the opportunities will expand significantly.

The area of the premises and the supplied capacities will increase. Thanks to this, "SovElMash" will be able to get new units of equipment, take on more staff, and improve the speed and quality of testing.

After the D3333E department is put into operation, the company's specialists will not have to spend time on adjusting the workflow processes, since they have already been mastered, and "SovElMash" will be able to start completing motor development orders earlier.
