How the asynchronous drive from "Sovelmash" is superior to brushed and permanent-magnet counterparts

The Sovelmash engineering center has developed a universal built-in electric drive with a 30 mm stack length. At its core is an innovative motor with combined Slavyanka windings. It contains no permanent magnets and operates at frequencies up to 600 Hz.

This solution addresses applications that have traditionally been handled either by brushed machines—with their sparking, dust, and limited service life—or by premium BLDC motors, with their reliance on imported magnets and high cost.

The drive is supplied with a controller. Standardized overall dimensions and the ability to vary mounting interfaces make it possible to integrate it into a wide range of equipment:
— drum pumps and high-pressure washers,
— routers, Angle grinders, various types of saws,
— lawn mowers and construction vacuum cleaners,
— food processors and meat grinders.

Key advantages
1. Energy efficiency. Superior torque characteristics, plus the ability to implement soft start and rapid stop. Equipment runs longer, and operating costs go down.
2. No reliance on imported magnets. There are no permanent magnets in the design. This reduces the cost of the end product and eliminates dependence on rare-earth supply chains.
3. Reliability and serviceability. No sparking and no brush assembly — which means no excess dust and no weak point that requires maintenance.
4. Quieter and with less vibration. For hand-held power tools and household appliances, these parameters are critical.

On request, the drive can be equipped with:
— a magnetic encoder for precise control,
— a temperature sensor to protect the windings from overheating,
— various shaft configurations and mounting dimensions.

This innovative product fully meets today’s global needs for technological sovereignty, energy efficiency, and material savings.
