Elon Musk - back in the TOP 5 club
This Monday, the world-famous innovator and entrepreneur Elon Musk returned to the top five list of the richest people in the world. The reason for his rapid rise in the billionaires ranking was the increase in stock prices of the company Tesla he founded.
According to the updated Forbes Real-Time statistics (https://www.forbes.com/real-time-billionaires/#4be8a7c73d78), Musk's fortune reached $83.6 billion having increased by $6.9 billion over a day. At the same time, the price of Tesla securities broke another record reaching $1,845.86 per share.
The reason for such a huge leap could be a positive forecast for the price of Tesla shares compiled by Daniel Ives, Wall Street analyst at Wedbush. In his opinion, the potential of the corporation's new plant built in Shanghai in 2019 meets the growing demand for electric vehicles in China, and therefore will strengthen Tesla's position on the Asian market.
After the rise in the price of shares, Tesla's capitalization reached $342 billion, and now this vehicle manufacturer is worth more than the industry's "top guns" General Motors, BMW, Ferrari and Ford combined. Such results impress and fire the imagination of investors around the world as an example of one of the most successful investments that few people believed in at the start.
Apart from Musk, the top five richest people include Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon with a capital of more than $197 billion, Bill Gates, the creator of Microsoft (over $114 billion), Bernard Arnault, the owner of LVMH Holding (over $111 billion) and Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook (over $97 billion).
Commenting on the fluctuations in the share price of his company, Elon Musk said that the dynamics of the numbers did not matter to him. It's more important that his team makes great products that people love.
