The crowdfunding market in Russia more than doubled in 2021!

Small and medium-sized businesses have been hit hard by the pandemic, so they are forced to look for new sources of raising capital.

According to the Central Bank of Russia, the volume of investment in the crowdfunding market amounted to 13.8 billion rubles. That's twice as much as in 2020.

Crowdfunding is a method of collectively raising money for implementing scientific, creative, social, environmental, and other projects. It is carried out through special investment platforms on the Internet.

The most common type of crowdfunding is crowdlending. This is a collective loan to fund projects. Its share in 2021 accounted for 9 billion rubles (64% of the market).

Another type of crowdfunding is crowdinvesting. People invest in a company by buying its assets. In 2021, 4.8 billion rubles (36% of the market) was raised this way.
